Welcome to Management of Non-Muscle Invasive Bladder Cancer (NMIBC). The concept of this book first came to me as a young trainee, whilst assisting with cystectomies. I had often read papers, but very rarely understood principles behind management of NMIBC. Clearly, there were hundreds and hundreds of papers out there, but which were the right ones to read? Bladder cancer is often considered the ‘Cinderella’ of all the cancers—underfunded for research. Within this book, my team and I have pulled together some of the controversies in non-muscle invasive bladder cancer. The aim of this book is to use the knowledge to further develop your practice and improve patient care. Bladder cancer has a significant impact on both patients and the healthcare world. Very often, the presentation of bladder cancer is unfathomable—presenting in a variety of different ways. This is what makes it so unpredictable. Years later, again when opening for a cystectomy, I realised this book needed to be written. The most important lesson to take away from this is to always seek like-minded people to
