Mandelic-acid/salicylic-acid Urticarial papules, contact urticaria, erythema and mild stinging sensation: case report In a prospective comparative study of 50 patients (conducted from June 2017–June 2018), a woman [age not stated] was described, who developed urticarial papules, contact urticaria, erythema and mild stinging sensation during treatment with mandelic acid and salicylic acid for acne vulgaris. The woman, who had acne vulgaris, received peel of 20% salicylic acid and 10% mandelic acid peel every 15 days. After the peel therapy, she developed urticarial papules. The lesions were associated with erythema and mild stinging sensation [duration of treatment to reaction onset not stated]. Within 4–6 hours after washing the face with plenty of cold water, the woman’s lesions resolved. However, after the second sitting of the peel therapy, the woman developed similar urticarial lesions. Finally, her therapy was discontinued and a possibility of contact urticaria was considered [final outcome not stated]. Author comment: "Urticarial papules were observed in one patient after [20% salicyclic acid peel with 10% mandelic acid peel]. The lesions were associated with erythema and mild stinging sensation and resolved within 4 – 6 hours after washing the face with plenty of cold water. [S]imilar urticarial lesions after second sitting of [20% salicyclic acid peel with 10% mandelic acid peel] which made her to discontinue the treatment and a possibility of contact urticaria was considered."
