MMA Article Wins 2020 ASM Student Paper Contest

The 2020 recipient of the ASM International Student Paper Contest is Bernoulli Andilab for his paper entitled, “Interactions Between Strontium and Sodium Fluorosilicate in the Combined Treatment of A319 Al Alloy,” which was published in volume 9, issue 1 (February 2020) of Metallography, Microstructure, and Analysis. Andilab is a Ph.D. student in the Mechanical Engineering Department at Ryerson University in Toronto, Canada. The paper was co-authored by E. Vandersluis, N. Prabaharan, M. Rinaldi, and C. Ravindran, Centre for Near-Net-Shape Processing of Materials, Ryerson University. Andilab is supervised by Dr. C. (Ravi) Ravindran at the Centre for Near-Net-Shape Processing of Materials (CNPM) lab. His research focuses on the casting and development of high-strength lightweight aluminum alloys with enhanced thermal properties for automotive applications. The ASM International Student Paper Contest was established in 1985, as a mechanism for student participation in Society affairs. The award recognizes the best technical
