It was with great pleasure that I accepted the invitation to introduce this publication, authored by my friends and colleagues Fabio Martino, Enzo Silvestri, Walter Grassi and Giacomo Garlaschi. The volume focuses on the impact of ultrasound in the musculoskeletal field, with particular reference to pathology in a rheumatological context. In fact, as noted, the social impact of rheumatic diseases is significant, and an early clinical diagnosis is important, given that the incidence of these diseases is on the rise and that they often lead to highly disabling conditions.
