The contributions included in this volume were presented at the workshop “Numerical methods for optimal control problems: algorithms, analysis and applications”, held in Rome on 19–23 June 2017, at the Istituto Nazionale di Alta Matematica— INdAM (for more information on the workshop see the website http://www1.mat. uniroma1.it/ricerca/convegni/2017/numoc2017/).
