REPORT

TRANSMISSION In this paper, we present newly observed optical limiting results obtained in short liquid crystalline fibers (c.f., figure la). Typically they are on the order of a few millimeters. These lengths are chosen as a result of practical consideration for fabricating liquid crystal faceplate from capillary arrays, c.f., figure lb. Typically, it will not pose any special fabrication problem if the apex (thickness (or length) to core diameter) ratio is on the order of 300, i.e., for a core diameter of 25 pm, the array thickness is on the order of 7 mm. 331
