Abstract The isothermal section of the quasi-ternary system Cu2Se-GeSe2-Sb2Se3 at 620 K (347 °C) and the liquidus surface projection of the system onto the concentration triangle have been built. The sections Cu2 GeSe3-CuSbSe2 and Cu2GeSe3-Sb2Se3 are quasi-binary systems of the eutectic type. The eutectic point coordinates in the Cu2GeSe3-Sb2Se3 system are: 70 mol.% Sb2Se330 mol.% Cu2GeSe3, 780 K (507 °C). In the Cu2GeSe3CuSbSe2 system the eutectic point coordinates are: 10 mol.% Cu2GeSe3-90 mol.% CuSbSe2, 750 K (477 °C). The liquidus surface projection is represented by the fields of the primary crystallization of Cu2Se (high-temperature modification), Cu8GeSe6 (high- and low-temperature modifications), Cu2GeSe3, GeSe2, Sb2Se3, CuSbSe2 and Cu3SbSe3 compounds. The fields are separated by 9 nonvariant points corresponding to the processes in the quasibinary systems and 7 nonvariant points at the planes of the respective nonvariant processes in the quasi-ternary subsystems Cu2Se-Cu2GeSe3-CuSbSe2, Cu2GeSe3-Sb2Se3CuSbSe2, Cu2GeSe3-GeSe2-Sb2Se3. Solid solubility in binary and ternary compounds does not exceed 5 mol.%, no quaternary phases were found. Keywords chalcogenides isothermal section quasibinary system vertical section

1 Introduction Systems AI-BIII-CIV-X, where AI-Cu, Ag; BIII-Ga, In, As(III), Sb(III); CIV-Ge, Sn; X-S, Se have been attracting a great interest in recent years[1–6] because of creation binary IV compounds AI2X, BIII 2 X3, C X2 in them, ternary comI IV I III pounds A B X2, A2C X3, which are important thermoand photoelectric materials, which have already found usage in semiconductor engineering.[1–4] To modify the properties of these compounds through the formation of solid solutions based on them and to search for new quaternary compounds, it is necessary to construct isothermal sections of quasi-ternary systems. To improve the methods of growing single crystals of the binary and ternary compounds, it is necessary to build phase diagrams of the systems and liquidus surface projections of the quasiternary systems. In work[7] the investigation of the separate polythermal sections of the subsystem Cu2GeSe3-Sb2Se3GeSe was performed by DTA method, in full concentration region the system Cu2Se-GeSe2-Sb2Se3 was investigated only by x-ray method. Therefore, to summarize the data on the interaction of the components, we will construct the liquidus surface projection in the full concentration range of the quasi-ternary system Cu2Se-GeSe2-Sb2Se3 a
