Qos Based Data Access Control Method in the Campus Cloud Storage System Yanming M. Ye, Zhilin L. Feng, and Hong Ding

Abstract Quality of Service (QoS) is an essential aspect of any large storage system. In cloud computing, all tenants’ data and software are stored in the clouds and therefore the data access control and QoS assurance is the key problem needed to be considered. This paper begins with the study on the QoS assurance method, and after analyzing the performance of the distributed storage system, the paper proposes a QoS assurance method for the storage service in our campus cloud. The experiment results show that the method can balance all the requests and provide QoS satisfied storage services for as many users as needed. Introduction

In recent years, cloud computing sweeps the world and becomes the new direction for future network applications. On-demand resources access is the key characteristics of cloud computing and the users can save their data and software in the cloud as tenants [1]. The data sharing mode (include database, files, etc.) is one of the main techniques of data storage, so it’s important to ensure that the data

transmission bandwidth and response time within the acceptable range. That is to guarantee the QoS requirements of storage service. Cloud storage system can provide storage service for multi users through an instance image, and users may share the same set of storage equipment and network bandwidth. If certain visits tied up a lot of storage system network bandwidth, it will affect other users to connect. Especially, there are many file servers with different bandwidth and capacity in the cloud environment and the user files may be stored in different servers with individual access path. So it’s a new challenge to meet the QoS requirements of every access in the cloud storage system. This paper study on the performance management methods of traditional distributed storage system, then proposes a new method to achieve the QoS based storage access control in cloud computing environment.
