Let my words be a bellow that ventilates Tubes and lines sputtering skin mottled body ensnared My stethoscope shakes rages within your pulsating pleura Eyes glazing your pulse fades silence Behind my mask I whisper psalms Poet’s statement We are living in an unprecedented time. Each day during the COVID-19 pandemic brings new challenges. This poem engages with the experience of redeployment of psychiatry trainees to caring for general medical patients suffering from COVID-19.
