The authors have retracted this article [1] because the subject matter of this study was C ­ aY2Ge3O10:Bi3+ not 3+ ­Mg3Y2Ga3O12:Bi as stated in the title and throughout the paper, which invalidates the figures and conclusions presented in the article. This error has been confirmed by the authors who have supplied the figure of the XRD pattern of ­CaY2Ge3O10 which is different from Fig. 1 in the original paper. Figure 2 in the original paper shows the SEM–EDX image which is incorrect as the material in the original paper is stated to be composed of Mg, Y, Ga, O and Bi, but the actual composition is Ca, Y, Ge, O and Bi. Therefore, the conclusions of this article are incorrect. Author Peizhang Xie has stated on behalf of all co-authors that they agree to this retraction.
