This book came to life through the infinite encouragement and collaboration of countless actors that I would like to thank. The mountains and rivers of the Yanping District have given priceless support by allowing healthy hikes during my entire ethnographic fieldwork. Also, the interaction of the river’s humidity with the soil of the mountains sustains the growth of exceptional tea plants that produce a delicious beverage. This tea facilitates the gathering of Nanping people around friendly discussions that have been crucial in this study.
