Cerebral venous sinus thrombosis: case report A 59-year-old woman developed cerebral venous sinus thrombosis during treatment with romiplostim for immune thrombocytopenia. The woman visited the emergency room for a self-limited episode of horizontal binocular diplopia. Two weeks earlier, she had begun to exhibit oppressive and intense right frontoparietal headaches. She was overweight and had chronic corticosteroid resistant immune thrombocytopenia, for which she had been receiving romiplostim [route and dosage not stated] for previous 1 month. Upon examination, she exhibited bilateral papilloedema. In the analytical emergency study, a thrombopenia was noticed. A brain CT and CT angiography with venous phase showed an extensive cerebral venous sinus thrombosis without parenchymal complications. The woman’s treatment was started with heparin. Consequently, progressive clinical and radiological improvement was observed. Based on negative study findings of thrombophilia and antiphospholipid syndrome, cerebral venous sinus thrombosis of multifactorial etiologies including romiplostim treatment and overweight was diagnosed.
