This monograph aims to provide a concise overview of various aspects of appointment planning in healthcare, more specific in outpatient clinics and diagnostic facilities. The reader is provided with a basic overview of relevant mathematical models and simple queuing theory calculations that support the development and improvement of appointment systems. Access time and waiting list management is discussed, followed by guidelines for scheduling of appointment slots, specific appointment systems, and a set of rules
