SELECTION OF A METHOD FOR PROTECTING THE ENVIRONMENT FROM CONTAMINATION DURING THE ASBESTOS CONTAINING ORE MINING A. V. Khokhryakov,1 G. A. Studenok,1,2 A. G. Studenok,1 and A. M. Ol’khovskii1 Translated from Novye Ogneupory, No. 8, pp. 66 – 71, August, 2020.
Original article submitted February 13, 2020. Analysis of the mechanism of quarry waters contamination during drilling and blasting preparation of asbestos containing raw materials under the influence of industrial and natural factors is carried out that can serve as a basis for making specific technological decisions ensuring a decrease in the negative impact on the environment during the development of chrysotile asbestos deposits. The dependence of the nitrogen compounds inflow in quarry waters on the consumption of explosives and the volume of quarry waters formation is presented. The possibility of quarry water treatment in the depleted open-pit minings, the sides of which are composed of plastic asbestos containing rocks, is shown. The relationship between the volumes of internal dumping and the contamination of quarry drainage waters has been analyzed. Keywords: asbestos containing ore, serpentinites, quarry water treatment.
these rocks, as well as the content of asbestos fibers in them, which can enhance the waterproof properties. The main volume of wastewater from mining enterprises discharged to surface water bodies, regardless of the method of deposit mining, falls on drainage waters generated during deposits drainage. These waters are mainly contaminated by nitrogen compounds (decomposition products of ammonium nitrate), which are the main component of explosives (emulsion of an aqueous solution of ammonium nitrate in liquid hydrocarbons with various additives) that are currently widely used all over the world in the exploitation of mineral deposits. Nitrogen compounds are represented in drainage waters by ammonium ion, nitrite ion and nitrate ion. The payment for the discharge of contaminants with wastewater is currently determined [1] by multiplying the payment base (the mass of the contaminant discharged per year, in tons) by the payment rate for the discharge of one ton of this substance. The payment rates are directly proportional to the environmental hazard of contaminants. Thus, for 1 ton of ammonium nitrogen discharged into water bodies, in 2019 the enterprise was obliged to pay 1237.8 rubles, taking into account [2], without increasing coefficients; for 1 ton of nitrite ion and 1 ton of nitrate ion the payment rate was 7736.6 and 15.5 rubles, respectively. The highest value of the payment rate for the discharge of nitrite ion is explained by
The refractory properties of chrysotile asbestos predetermined its use in the manufacture of nonburning textiles, filters, thermal insulation, fire-resistant paints, fillers for plastics and asbestos cement. Manufacturing asbestos is associated with mining asbestos containing serpentinites by the open method with the use of drilling and blasting preparation of the roc
