An approach to expedient selection of charge density of filter baffle plates for two-stage cleaning of spinning solution of viscose and other solutions of polymers is scrutinized. Use of the characteristics of variation of unit costs per unit volume of the filtered spinning solution as a function of charge density of the main filtration stage as a criterion of selection is validated. Because of universality of the used generalized equation of filtration and economic criterion (unit cost) for analysis and selection of solution of the set task, the elucidated approach to finding the expedient combination of charge density for multistage filtration has prospect for use in industrial production of viscose and other artificial fibers, yarns, and films. This approach could be useful also for other industries that use filtering equipment.
The article being brought to the attention of the readers scrutinizes an approach to expedient selection of filter baffle plates for two-stage cleaning of spinning solution of viscose and other solutions of polymers. The branch of spinning solution filtration by its nature relates to sequentially parallel structures, the technological aspects of construction of which are being discussed in numerous articles and monographs [1-3]. Currently, synthetic fibers for household and technical purposes dominate in commercial production of chemical fibers in Russia. The demand of the internal market for viscose fibers is being met by import from other countries. In this regard, the range and quality of the supplied materials do not always conform to the demands of the processing base of the domestic textile companies, which necessitates additional procurement of imported equipment. For judicious management, it is imperative to revive viscose fiber production conforming in range to the appropriate demands of the textile enterprises. This is all the more urgent because cotton, whose closest substituents are viscose fibers and yarns in terms of the range of consumer properties, as is well known, does not grow in our country, but the revivable base of forest tracts for production of cellulose, which is a raw material for viscose production, is huge in Russia. Sooner or later, this revival, which is one of the desired key events for the economy of Russia, will take place. For this, we must have the means of solving the problems associated with organization and instrumentation of the technological process of viscose solution production. As a rule, the density of the filter baffle of the second (control) filtration stage is chosen on the basis of the required cleanness of the spinning solution rather than the optimality of the filtration process, which ensures unhindered flow of the solution through the spinneret assembly in the molding process.
