Complex sentences are mainly composed of dependent and independent clauses. Therefore, for syntactic analysis of these sentences, one has to check the external structure, as well as internal composition of the clause. In this research article, the author has developed an algorithm for detecting and correcting the syntactic errors present in participial-type complex sentences of Punjabi language. The algorithm developed involves the identification and separation of dependent and independent clauses, and then detection of grammatical mistakes from their structure and in the last step, errors are corrected using grammatical rules of Punjabi language. The author tested the system on a set of participial sentences having grammatical mistakes and observed that the system was able to rectify all the errors. Keywords Punjabi grammar checker
