TSD 2011 was the 14th event in the series of International Conferences on Text, Speech and Dialogue supported by the International Speech Communication Asˇ sociation (ISCA) and the Czech Society for Cybernetics and Informatics (CSKI). This year, TSD was held in Plzeˇ n (Pilsen), in the new Conference Center of the Vienna International Hotel Angelo, during September 1–5, 2011 and it was organized by the University of West Bohemia in Plzeˇ n in cooperation with Masaryk University of Brno, Czech Republic. Like its predecessors, TSD 2011 highlighted to both the academic and scientific world the importance of text and speech processing and its most recent breakthroughs in current applications.
