The Anisotropy of Deformation and Fracture in a Directionally Solidified Ni/Ni3AI-Ni 3Cb Lamellar Eutectic Alloy K. D. SHEFFLER, R. H. BARKALOW, A. YUEN, AND G. R. LEVERANT The orientation dependence of deformation and fracture modes was investigated for a directionally-solidified Ni-NizA1-NizCb l a m e l l a r eutectic alloy (Ni-20 wt pct Cb-2.5 wt pct A1-6.0 wt pct Cr) u s i n g optical and transmission microscopy to examine tensile and compression specimens tested at temperatures below the softening point of the 5 (NisCb) reinforcing phase (~1050 K). In this temperature r a n g e t h e r e is a l a r g e difference between longitudinal and transverse tensile ductility (>5 pct longitudinal v s
