Abstract The mechanical property transformation and activity characteristics of fault structure have a great influence on ore-forming and ore control, so the fault structure activity characteristics of ore field based on GIS are studied. Taking GAOSONG ore field as the research area, the geological information data of the ore field are collected by using the geographic information system; the collected graphic information and data information are represented by points, lines, and planes, and the fault structural activity information is divided into graphic data and attribute data, and the relationship between them is established to give the geometric geoscience significance; two or more layers of the ore field are overlapped by using the space Through the creation of fracture structure buffer, the point-to-line, point-to-area, and area-to-area spatial superposition analysis is carried out between the overlapping fracture structure and its buffer. The analysis results show that the fault structure in GAOSONG ore field can be divided into four groups, i.e., east-west, north-east, north-west, and north-south, which are characterized by multi-stage activity. At the same time, the ore field has three dominant rock joint groups: 290–345°∠60–85°, 110–160°∠40–75°, 220–250°∠40–65°. It shows that the self-sedimentary rocks in Gaosong ore field have been affected by multi-stage tectonic movement since they were formed. The results can provide a reliable theoretical basis for the future prospecting and exploration work in the mining area, and have a high reference value. Keywords Graph data . Attribute data . GPS . Introduction With the rapid development of the world economy and the rapid development of China’s national economy, the trend of global warming and the recent fog and thunder weather in China are becoming more and more serious, and the adjustment of energy structure is imminent (Wang et al. 2020; Wang et al. 2017; Zhu et al. 2020). The research on mineral field is of great importance to the adjustment of energy structure. Mining area is a special geographical area, and its This article is part of the Topical Collection on Geological Modeling and Geospatial Data Analysis * Peng Hu [email protected] 1
