Orthopedic trauma continues to evolve at a rapid pace, based not only on changing technology but also on an expanded knowledge base and an understanding of the healing process. The vast increase in implant options has led to the necessity for continuous learning so that the technical aspects of any given procedure are understood. In conjunction with this, many instructional courses, both regionally and nationally, have shifted from an emphasis on historical literature and broad topic review to a focus on technical tips and tricks, with the goal of demonstrating how one actually performs a surgical procedure. This change has been widely praised and, as a result, has led to the development of this text.
