Translating National Policy to Improve Environmental Conditions Impacting Public Health Through Community Planning came about when I plodded through material documenting scientific confirmation of horrific environmental conditions that presented health hazards to the Earth and its inhabitants. Digging back to preliminary papers in the first year of my doctoral program at the University of Central Florida in Orlando, FL, I came across a rudimentary document I had presented at the Global Network for the Economics of Learning, Innovation, and Competence (GLOBELICS) conference in 2009 held in Dakar, Senegal. The document and the succinct version of the presentation discussed how local community development, via collaboration and the development of social networks, could concurrently meet the needs of community healthcare and economic development.
