Preface

This book is the result of our efforts to bring together ideas and researchers from the fields of transport of water and transport over water. These two domains of research have fascinated us for many years, due to the high societal importance of water and transport systems in many parts of the world (e.g., low-lying countries, countries with dry climates, densely populated areas). The efficient function of such systems is therefore crucial. As we started to understand more and more from the different aspects of those domains, we realized that many of the problems encountered are in the literature addressed from rather mono-disciplinary perspectives, even th
