UCLA Chapter Holds Second Annual Materials Research Symposium

Programming Committee rigorously reviews each presentation prior to the event, providing constructive criticism and helpful advice. And last, it exposes the attendees to the most up-to-date and exciting research in materials science at UCLA. The technical papers are a major part of the overall aims of the program. However, they are not the only part. Faculty, students, and industry attendees are encouraged to interact on a less formal level at the luncheon and evening mixer. At this year's symposium, to be held on May 30, 1986, the evening mixer will be replaced by an industry mixer, featuring booths for participating companies. An Annual Awards Banquet has also been added, in which awards will be presented by the UCLA Chapter to individuals who have made outstanding contributions to student welfare in the field of materials science. A Distinguished Speaker Award will also be presented to the banquet's invited guest speaker. Symposium attendees will also receive a proceeding of the day's technical papers. Last year's proceedings were so popular and well-received that this year's edition will be enlarged to give short manuscripts rather than extended abstracts.
