Unauthorised ED drugs including Vigoureux not safe Health Canada has advised customers not to use Vigoureux or any other unauthorised products promoted for erectile dysfunction (ED) treatment, as they may pose serious health risks due to undeclared prescription ingredients. The agency says that Vigoureux was found to contain sildenafil, which can cause serious health risks in patients with pre-existing medical conditions, including those at risk for strokes, those with heart problems and those taking heart medications. Patients with heart disease who receive sildenafil can develop serious cardiovascular disorders, such as heart attack, stroke, low BP, abnormal heartbeat, sudden cardiac death and chest pain. Sildenafil use may also be associated with seizures, vision loss, sudden decrease or loss in hearing, indigestion, prolonged erection, dizziness, headache, flushing, nasal congestion and abdominal pain. Concomitant use of sildenafil and any type of nitrate drug, such as nitroglycerin [glyceryl trinitrate] can cause life-threatening hypotension. Vigoureux is labelled only in French and is distributed by International in Montreal, Quebec. However, this product may be available in stores across Canada. Health Canada has advised consumers not to use Vigoureux or any other unauthorised products for ED therapy. Retailers are advised to remove Vigoureux from their shelves. Consumers are advised to return Vigoureux to the place of purchase and to seek medical advice if they are concerned about their health. Health Canada.
