Lack of efficacy: case report In a retrospective study involving 75 babies, an 84-days-old infant [sex not stated] was described, who exhibited lack of efficacy during treatment with vitamin K for suspected vitamin-K deficiency bleeding. The infant, who had received BCG vaccine at birth, developed injection site bleeding along with bulging fontanelle, stiffness and seizure. The infant was suspicious for vitamin K deficiency bleeding and received treatment with vitamin K [route and dosage not stated] along with blood transfusion. However, the patient continued to have mild bleeding, which was considered as lack of efficacy of vitamin K. Eventually, the patient died [immediate cause of death not stated]. Pradhan R, et al.
