Abstract
The wood-rotting (non-gilled) Agaricomycetes of Himalayas is a part of outcome of fungal forays conducted by the author; collecting and photographing different groups of fungi; along with the faculty of the Department of Botany, Panjab University, Chandigarh, for the last three decades. Some of the photographs are 30 years old. Extensive collections of wood-rotting Agaricomycetes made for the last 10 years along with the Ph.D. students have resulted in the compilation of this book. This work comprising of 167 genera and 488 species (including 6 varieties) is the first comprehensive compilation of these fungi from Himalayas and Assam hills. The characteristic features of all the families included in this work are given before dealing with the taxonomic treatment. The generic and species concept
