Abstract— Presented device -a scale developed for enabling extra measurements, in addition to body weight and composition, the electrical activity of the heart (electrocardiogram ECG) and the level of oxygen saturation in the blood SaO2. Electrical activity is recorded in the form of six leads, socalled. limb leads. The device allows measurement of all standard limb leads and without the need for additional procedures. ECG, although the measurement is performed in an unconventional standard, and the results should be treated as if they were made using a standard ECG monitor. Keywords— ECG measurements, wireless measurements, signal processing, home monitoring, AAL.

I. INTRODUCTION

Today, there is a large number of deaths caused by civilization diseases including cardiovascular disease and heart failure. Therefore, it is important to prevention of the occurrence of serious cardiac events, highlighted the need for efficient systems for monitoring of elderly and sick people in their homes over long periods. This will ensure a reduction in treatment costs and improves the quality of life of patients. The solution of this problem could be to perform regular monitoring of electrocardiogram (ECG), including in the home environment. Of course, a medical specialist - a cardiologist, must evaluate such results. We can observe that many teams working on contactless ECG systems and wireless transmission to a monitoring station. Such a stressfree for the patient to measure the electrical activity of the heart at home could be realized as a device using classical silver electrodes placed on the surface of the chest with a measuring system and wireless transmission to a smartphone [1]. Very interesting solution is presented in [2] - an ECG is acquired by holding the phone case by placing the fingers of each hand on the electrodes, which via modulated ultrasound transmit the ECG recording to the smartphone. However, they are being developed consisting of the non-contact measurement of ECG systems, the use of capacitive coupling electrodes to the patient. Such electrodes can be embedded in the mattress, bed sheet on the bed [2] or incorporated in a seat or chair [3][4]. Department of Biomedical Engineering Gdansk University of Technology has developed a model of bathroom scale, enriched by a module measuring ECG in a standing position. As a standard electrocardiogram is recorded in supine position with © Springer Nature Singapore Pte Ltd. 2018 H. Eskola et al. electrodes placed in defined places, the proposed scales device gives slightly different ECG recordings. That problem was discussed many times in the literature - difference between standard ECG and this recorded in standing position, e.g. [5] where discussion about ECG traces recorded in patient with cardiac ischemia in different position was done. For such patients there were no differen
