Abstract For efficient technology development, prediction of directions for technology development in the future is important. In the present study, trends of changes in development of green aviation technology will be analyzed through patent analysis, and directions for development in the green aviation technology in the future will be predicted. The numbers of countries’ filed patents per year will be compared through an analysis of trends in the case numbers among quantitative analysis methods, and what technology areas are developed, with emphasis on the country to be analyzed through an analysis of companies with multiple filings. Finally, after preparing summary lists and worksheets with a qualitative analysis method, trends of technology development, along with directions for development of green aviation technologies in the future, will be predicted through preparation of a techno-map based on such results. 1 Introduction The amount of greenhouse gases generated by the aviation industry accounts for about 3 % of the total generated amount in the world. Compared with the 10 % by road-related areas and 13 % by agricultural areas, this seems to be a relatively small number [1]. However, since the greenhouse gases caused by aviation are exhausted at a high altitude, they are less apt to be absorbed by trees and plants. Thus, the greenhouse gases exhausted from airplanes have direct influence on the greenhouse effects. For this reason, despite the relatively small emissions, 13 % of the overall greenhouse effects were shown to be caused by greenhouse gases by airplanes [1]. Therefore, in a reality with increasing carbon cost, investments in technologies for reducing a carbon exhaust from the aviation industry are expected to alleviate carbon exhaust costs and enable further sustainable business by airline companies. For efficient technology development, prediction of directions for technology development in the future is important. Agarwal [2], Jung [3], and Lee [4] offer useful references for green aviation technology prediction. Agarwal [2] is describes each technology as classifying and organizing contents related to green aviation technology. Jung [3] analyzes technologies with specialized statuses utilizing RTA (Revealed Technological Advantage) among the patent analysis index, and CII (Current Impact Index) is utilized for technology influence analysis.
