A Test for Randomness of the Spatial Distribution of Particles during Phase Transformations A.M. GOKHALE The kinetics of solid state transformations are often monitored by measuring the global microstructural properties such as volume fraction and surface area per unit volume of the product phase as a function of time. The measured microstructural properties are then compared with those calculated from the model for nucleation and growth kinetics, and the validity of the kinetic model is tested.~-5 Such a comparison is quite straightforward at low volume fr
