Soft tissue tumors are a heterogeneous group of more than 200 nosological entities that include both benign neoplasms and malignant neoplasms (i.e., soft tissue sarcomas), can affect people of any age, and can arise in virtually any site of the human body. Given the number of these tumors (which is often multiplied by a variety of clinicopathological subtypes), the epidemiological rarity of most of them, and the plethora of synonyms often utilized to refer to them, the topic of soft tissue neoplasms results complex and remembering the details on epidemiologic, clinical, pathologic, molecular, prognostic, and therapeutic details of each single entity is intrinsically challenging.
