Thyrotoxicosis: 23 case reports Fifteen men and eight women aged 22–85 years developed thyrotoxicosis during treatment with amiodarone for cardiac arrhythmias [durations of treatment to reactions onset not stated]. All patients began receiving first-line therapy with amiodarone for atrial fibrillation (20 patients) or ventricular arrhythmia (3). After loading with oral amiodarone 600–1200mg for 4 weeks, the maintenance dose was reduced to 200–400mg. The total cumulative dose of amiodarone was 24–616g, and the total duration of amiodarone therapy ranged from 0.2 to 8.2 years. Symptoms of thyrotoxicosis included palpitations (7 patients), agitation (6) and weight loss (3). Sixteen patients had TSH levels
