Awards Presented at the 43rd Annual Meeting of the Behavior Genetics Association Monday, July 1st, Fort Ganteaume, Marseille, France

The Association’s annual awards were presented at the Banquet, held at the Fort Ganteaume, Marseille, FR. President-Elect Carol Prescott served as the master of ceremonies. The 36th Annual Thompson Award for the best presentation by an associate member was presented by Benjamin Neale to two oral presentations, by Jenny van Dongen entitled ‘Estimating the contribution of the functional IL6R polymorphism rs2228145, eQTLs and other genome-wide SNPs to the heritability of serum sIL-6R levels’ and to Maciej Trzaskowski entitled ‘Can twin methods be trusted? Molecular genetics investigation’. The inaugural Annual Rowe Award for the best poster presentation by an associate member was presented by Kristen Jacobson to Stephane Paquin for the poster entitled ‘Testing the differential heritability hypothesis from the developmental taxonomy of physical aggression during childhood’. The tenth annual Fuller and Scott Award for outstanding early career contributions to the field was presented by Valerie Knopik to Henrik Larsson.

The 13th annual Fulker Award for the outstanding paper in Behavior Genetics during the past year was presented by John Hewitt, Editor of Behavior Genetics, to Mark Adams, James King, and Alex Weiss for their paper entitled ‘The majority of genetic variation in orangutan personality and subjective well-being is nonadditive’. Dorret Boomsma presented the James Shields Award for excellence in twin research to Jennifer Harris. Past-President Michael Pogue-Geile presented the 36th annual Dobzhansky Award for outstanding lifetime contributions to the field of behavior genetics to Dorret Boomsma.
