Foreword

Biomedical statistics, though constituting a vital aspect of all research in the field, hardly gets its due attention in the medical education. This leads to many students and researchers feeling helpless during the compilation of their research with regard to the suitability as well as application of a statistical test to their data. The currently available books on biomedical statistics focus mainly on the application of the statistical tests without providing the knowledge on the fundamentals of the mathematical basis of these tests. In this regard, this book by the team led by Dr. Sompal Singh is a welcome addition to the literature on biomedical statistics. Dr. Sompal Singh, a pathologist by profession, is an avid learner himself and a self-trained skilled statistician, who, for his love for the subject, pursued a graduate degree in statistics from the ICFAI University, Tripura, while continuing his job at the busy Hindu Rao Hospital, Delhi. His keen interest in mathematics is well r
