The Committee on Women, Family and Environment in Africa (COSWFEVA/CEFEVA) is an African NGO based in Senegal. CEFEVA garners the collective experiences of women and organizations from different national, socio-economic and ethnic backgrounds and targets its efforts on those who are disadvantaged by gender, status, age and economic condition. By focusing on the health and well-being of economically and politically marginalized women and families, and building on the success of women’s programmes and initiatives in West and Central Africa, CEFEVA aims to start programmes that integrate research, training and public education to enhance the reproductive health, education and rights of all Africans. forums, located in southern countries, which hope to encourage the participation of underserved groups, and distributes reproductive health and rights materials from a variety of perspectives through its clearinghouse website. This endeavour was undertaken by the Harvard School of Public Health to provide a much needed space for networking and exchange of perspectives on gender, rights and reproductive health issues. International Women’s Health Coalition www.iwhc.org Founded in 1980, the International Women’s Health Coalition (IWHC) is a non-profit organization based in New York City that works with individuals and groups in Africa, Asia and Latin America to promote women’s reproductive and sexual health and rights. IWHC provides technical, managerial, moral and financial support to reproductive health service providers, advocacy groups and women’s organizations in southern countries. It publishes books and position papers and maintains a global communications network of 6000 individuals and organizations in 143 countries.
