Compounds with encapsulated species were found to have unique chemical, physical, and physicochemical properties. Those that contain organic ions, nonmetal inorganic cations, and neutral molecules as guests have been proposed for the efficient recognition, separation, carrying, storage, and detection of various encapsulated caged species, thus entering the field of molecular and supramolecular devices and modern material. Those include efficient catalysts, carriers of therapeutically active compounds, and many others; main results in these fields have been recently summarized in our book “The encapsulation phenomenon—synthesis, reactivity and applications of caged ions and molecules,” 2016 [1]. On the other hand, the encapsulation of metal cations has been skipped in the above book; the situation in this field, as it appeared before 2002, has been highlighted in the monograph “C
