sufficient knowledge of them to cope with adverse situations in an appropriate manner when they arise.

2.3 Esthetic problems may occur according to the proficiency of operations in most cases. These can be prevented by good training in surgical techniques. However, for non-esthetic complications, doctors performing liposuction should be aware of all the possible complications. I will explain these based on my own clinical experience.

 ommon and Minor C Complications

1. Seroma 2. Hematomas 3. Focal skin necrosis 4. Allergic reaction of drugs 5. Scars 6. Superficial irregularities of the skin 7. Hyperpigmentation and hypopigmentation 8. Fainting during or after the operation 9. Temporary bruising 10. Numbness or nerve injury 11. Temporary adverse drug reactions 12. Post-liposuction syncope Complications mentioned above may commonly occur in liposuction. The doctor must have

 are and Severe R Complications

1. Pulmonary embolism, deep vein thrombosis (DVT) 2. Injury to the abdominal organs 3. Excessive intravenous fluids, excessive blood loss 4. Hypothermia 5. Severe infection 6. Allergic drug reactions 7. Aspiration pneumonia 8. Arrest, fatal cardiac arrhythmias 9. Permanent nerve damage 10. Brain damage (hypoxemia) and seizures Severe and dangerous complications can be avoided by having proper and sufficient medical knowledge about liposuction and surgical procedures. For example, in the case of pulmonary fat embolism, if general anesthesia is avoided, the possibility of an embolism occurring can be 0%. Internal abdominal organ injury can be prevented if proper liposuction techniques are carried out and suction equipment is installed with a safety device that stops cannula action when the cannula touches muscle.

Other Complications

2.4.1 C omplications in Cases Reported 1. Herpes zoster 2. Ischemic optic neuropathy 3. Toxic shock syndrome 4. Allergic contact dermatitis It has been reported that dermatitis may occur quite easily. There have been reported cases that have had very dangerous results. The progress of patients should always be thoroughly checked after operations.

2.4.2 Lidocaine Toxicity Lidocaine toxicity is common. Factors to be aware of are the body absorption time, peak blood level time, and body maintenance time of lidocaine. Knowledge of bicarbonate dosage should also be obtained, which increases the blood concentration of lidocaine. If lidocaine toxicity occurs, the doctor should know how to deal with it.

Seroma

• Seroma commonly occurs in the arms • Symptoms and opinion: skin is hardened, and there is pain and swelling 1. Cause (a) Too superficial → damage to subdermal lymphatic plexus (b) Prolonged excessive liposuction in a local area with complete transection of all fibrous subcutaneous strands and shee
