Comparative study of the structural and magnetic properties of bulk and nanostructured Fe2CrAl

Nanostructured Fe2CrAl has been prepared by mechanical alloying using a high energy ball mill. The structural and magnetic properties of the as-milled and mechanically alloyed sample annealed in the presence of a magnetic field have been studied by means

The 29th International Conference on the Applications of the Mössbauer Effect (ICAME 2007) was held from Sunday 14th to Friday 19th October 2007 in Indian Institute of Technology, Kanpur, India, with great success. The Indian Mössbauer community members were delighted to host once again a Mössbauer Conference in the ICAME series. The conference was attended by 280 participants from 34 countries, including India. The aim of the conference is to review the recent advances in the field and to enlighten the future potential of the well-proven resonance technique. With the guidance from IBAME members, nine themes were selected and contributed papers and presentations were grouped accordingly. 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. 7. 8. 9.

Nanophase and Amorphous materials, ultrafine particles Solid state Physics and Magnetism Surfaces, Interfaces, Thin films, Multilayers Biological, Forensic and Medical Applications Chemical applications, Structure and Bonding Earth Science, Mineralogy and Archeology Catalysis, Electrochemistry and Corrosion Materials science and Metallurgy Advances in Experimentation, Lattice dynamics, Theory and Methodology

The organising committee members wish to thank the members of the International Board and also the participants who readily agreed to review the manuscripts in quick time. We wish to thank all IBAME members for their useful hints/tips/comments/suggestions for the last two years. We wish to acknowledge the tremendous support from different funding agencies (DST, DRDO, ISRO, DIT, CSIR, DBT and INSA).Special thanks to the Director, IIT Kanpur, for his guidance and for providing the excellent infrastructure facilities on the beautiful campus. We wish to acknowledge the total support rendered by the young researchers of the local organizing committee during the preparation of ICAME 2007.

Abstract This essay summarises the author’s admittedly partial thoughts on the applications of the Mössbauer effect. After a short overview of the history of Mössbauer effect and Mössbauer spectroscopy, we focus on recent difficulties of the applications of the method. These emerge from the complexity of Mössbauer spectroscopy, which is now extensively used by experts of other fields. Finally the plan of setting up a Web-based Encyclopaedia of Mössbauer Spectroscopy is put forward. Keywords Mössbaue
