It would be fair to say that recent years have witnessed an increase in attention to the role and nature of emotions as a core and necessary part of politics more generally and democratic education more specifically. This said, the need remains to conceptualise political emotions further, including how they are and might be operationalised within educational curricula and programmes in different contexts. Indeed, any worthwhile contribution to understanding this turn to the affective—what some (see Fortier 2010; Hung 2010) have called ‘a
