Dipyrone Nonimmediate skin reactions: 12 case reports Twelve patients, who had previously tolerated dipyrone, developed nonimmediate skin reactions between 2 hours and 35 days after the first dose of dipyrone [dosages and therapeutic indications not stated]. Most of the patients developed generalised maculopapular exanthema [see table]. One patient developed symptoms consistent with fixed drug eruption and another patient developed ulcerated oral mucosal lesions. Patient 8 also developed fever and elevated transaminase levels. After 24 hours to a week, the patients’ maculopapular exanthemas resolved. The other reactions resolved in over 1 week. Skin prick tests, patch tests and intradermal tests were performed. Patients 1, 3, 4, 7 , 9 and 11 had positive reactions to intradermal tests after 48 hours. Patients 2, 4, 6, and 8 had positive reactions to patch testing after 48 hours. Patients 5, 10 and 12 underwent an oral challenge with progressive dipyrone dosages of up to 575mg. These patients had exanthema at 4–48 hours, which resolved within 24–48 hours. [Not all patient outcomes clearly stated.]
