Double ABCX Model Definition Double ABCX Model is the model for assessing the stress of raising a child with disabilities. In this model, the stress of raising a child with disabilities (X) is a function of the child’s characteristics (A), parental perceptions of the child’s disability (B), and the family’s internal and external resources (C), all of which change over time, hence the ‘‘double’’ in the double ABCX model.
