Editorial Volume 11, Issue 1
European Journal of Information Systems (2002) 11, 1– 2. DOI: 10.1057/palgrave/ejis/3000419 As another year starts, we would like to thank everyone who has contributed to the journal. Published in this issue are the names of those who provided reviews in 2001. This growing list of reviewers, situated all over the world, is fundamentally important to the continued success of EJIS. Thank you all. We must also thank our team of Associate Editors. Their hard work and dedication has allowed EJIS to prosper, providing timely reviews and excellent suggestions for revisions. Many of our current Associate Editors have been working with us since the journal changed its review model in January 2000. We are putting in place a structure to allow Associate Editors to retire, and to bring new ones into EJIS. We believe that a journal needs ‘new blood’ in its Editorial team to progress the range of papers we receive. Last, but certainly not least, we must thank Mrs Carolyn Bailey. Carolyn is the face behind [email protected]. She has now run the day-to-day operations of the journal for two years with great enthusiasm and considerable dedication. Thank you Carolyn. This year will see the publication of a special issue
on Personal Aspects of E-Business edited by Patrick Chau of Hong Kong University. In addition we expect to publish nearly 20 papers in regular issues in 2002, including this issue. Ali Farhoomand ([email protected]), also of Hong Kong University, and Rolf Wigand ([email protected]) of Syracuse University, are soliciting papers for a special issue on Managing (e)Business Transformation that will appear in 2003. The deadline for submissions for this issue is 15 May, 2002. Two years ago, we indicated that we wished EJIS to become a forum for debate. We stated, ‘Intellectual debate, even argument, has always been a healthy part of the European scene, and we want to foster this. To this end, we intend to solicit (a) review articles, and (b) provocative papers and commentaries.’ We have been unable to find review articles worthy of publication – but we are still actively seeking reviews that are comprehensive, critical and timely. We would welcome such submissions. Similarly, short provocative papers that comment on other papers or critically appraise an area are always welcome. Bob O’Keefe Ray Paul
