Oman has fascinating geology that is only partly known. In the years, we have been privileged to work in Oman and we have encountered many textbook examples of geology as well as other features or fossils which we did not understand the full significance of. By investigating further, often with the help of experts, some of these have turned into exciting new discoveries, new fossil species and new insights into the long and fascinating story of life. There are still many outcrops in Oman that have never been visited by a geologist, and around the next bend or over the next ridge, there could be something new, of national or international significance.
