Preface

Since the publication of the paper by Prof. Irina Perfilieva in 2004, Fuzzy Transforms were applied in a wide range of fields. Fuzzy Transform is a function approximation method based on fuzzy sets, similar to the Fourier Transform. This book is devoted to researchers, students, and professionals who intend to explore the use of techniques based on fuzzy transforms in image and data analysis. In what follows, our attention is focused primarily on the applicability of this technique in specific issues such as image and video compression, image segmentation, forecasting, and data classification. Applications in which techniques based on the use of the Fuzzy Transform are used to deal with these problems are discussed in detail and the algorithms that implement them are formally shown in the pseudocode. Of course, these issues do not exhaust the whole range of problems in which the fuzzy transform technique can be successfully applied; the reader may eventually deepen the study and analysis of the wide range of techniques based o
