Preface

The new Springer book Global Satellite Meteorological Observation (GSMO): Volume 2 Applications, by Prof. Ilcev, describes Satellite Meteorological Networks, Satellite Imagery Interpretation, Satellite Remote Sensing in Meteorology, Satellite Meteorological Applications, Meteorological Ground Stations, Meteorological Surface Stations, and Integrations in Space Meteorology. However, the already published Springer book Global Satellite Meteorological Observation (GSMO): Volume 1 – Theory includes in its introduction developments of radio and satellite communications including the history of satellite meteorology observation. The book includes major aspects of space segment with satellite platforms and orbital mechanics, baseband signals and types of transmission systems, atmospheric electromagnetic radiation and radiative transfer, satellite meteorological parameters, main satellite meteorological instruments, and antenna systems with propagation. Today meteorological satellite instruments present “Eyes from Space,” which can “see” the Earth and its atmosphere with
