Human history and Earth history are colliding at an accelerating rate. We have now entered the ‘end game’. Do the cataclysms of Earth’s past tell us what future our children and grandchildren might face? The answer is imminent. Professor (William Steffen, Emeritus Professor in climate science, Fenner School of Environment & Society, Australian National University). Andrew Glikson is a superb writer, philosopher and scientist. There is an enormous gulf between The Event Horizon: Homo Prometheus and the climate catastrophe and every other book about the consequences of climate change that exists, that gulf being the level of research that has gone into it. Glikson has an extraordinary grasp of the scientific literature and uses it to full effect. This book may not be for everybody as it is moderately technical, but it is for anybody with a science
