Abstract The group decision method is an important branch in the decision problems. A critical issue in group decision methods is how to determine the weights of the group members. To reduce the possible prejudice due to the social influences, we propose a novel group decision method under social influences based on information entropy. Firstly, the interaction degrees between the group members under social influences are determined. Secondly, the entropy of each expert from the decision group is computed. Then, according to the entropy, the weights of the experts can be determined. Finally, based on the evaluation matrix, the weighted values of the alternatives can be obtained and the alternatives are ranked. The decision steps are provided in detail and the practicality of the proposed method is illustrated through an example. The proposed decision method considers interactions between the group members, so that the possible biases due to the social influences can be reduced to some extent. 1 Introduction Decision making exists everywhere. So there are so many researches on decision problems (Martello 2012, 2015; Sun et al. 2013). The group decision method is an important branch, in which there are multiple decision makers in the group and the different viewpoints are integrated, then the consensus is reached finally (Maani and Li 2010; Liu et al. 2013; Sun et al. 2013; Tsai et al. 2013; Zhu and Xu 2013; Khezrimotlagh et al. 2014; Wang et al. 2014; Fare and Zelenyuk 2015; Martello 2015). Analytic hierarchy processhesitant group decision-making method is introduced for the group decision-making problems (Zhu and Xu 2014a, b). Preference relations in group decision making are discussed (Xu and Cai 2014; Zhu and Xu 2014a, b; Xia and Chen 2015), and some researchers study multi-attribute group decision-making methods (Liu et  al. 2013; Zhu and Xu

2013; Qin and Liu 2015; Wang et al. 2015a, b), in which the objects are ranked in some values for the recommendation. Meanwhile, for dealing with knowledge acquired and processed at different levels of abstraction, granular computing has emerged as a new asset of studying human-centric decision-making problem (Pedrycz and Chen 2011, 2015a, b; Qin et al. 2018). To handle fuzzy multiple criteria hierarchical group decision-making problems, Fuzzy Multiple Criteria Hierarchical Group Decision-Making Based on Interval Type-2 Fuzzy Sets is provided (Chen and Lee 2010). Some similar contributions have been made on the useful ways for decision making in fu
