In these matters the author's judgment must be supported by the review committee and editor. The report should be available on request. Such items will then fall into two categories: (a) They may be cited the same as "private communications" or "unpublished research." (b) They may be cited as (1) and should include the source from which the reader may obtain the information. Example: J. J. Doe: Report No. 738, AAA Company, Washington, D. C., January 1970. 5. GUIDELINES F O R PUBLICATION O F SYMPOSIUM P A P E R S IN METALLURGICAL TRANSACTIONS There are special situations when it is desirable to publish a group of papers concurrently in METALLURGICAL TRANSACTIONS. Typically, these arise when a technical committee has organized a limited meeting program of two or three half-day sessions on a particular theme. This may be distributed among the authors involved or provided from any other source available t o the committee. 5. Review Procedure. This must be the primary responsibility of some member of the committee who acts as "key reader" for the papers involved. Preferably, he will have had prior experience on the Board of Review and will carry out the review so as t o conform to accepted policy of this Board. The final reviewers' reports recommending publication should be forwarded t o the Editor's Office. The author will receive final approva
