Health Assessment Questionnaire Disability Index Definition The HAQ-DI was developed for measuring the difficulties adults with RA have in performing activities of daily living. It contains 20 questions grouped into 8 components of daily function. Each response is scored on a four-point scale of ability, ranging from 0 (no difficulty) to 3 (unable to perform). The highest score of each component is added together and divided by 8 to provide a continuous score of 0–3. The higher the mean HAQ-DI score is, the more disability the patients have.
