■ Heath Canada is advising consumers not to use the weight loss product Detox Peptide because it contains sibutramine; Detox Peptide is manufactured by Nuforma Incorporated, US. Health Canada warns that use of sibutramine, a prescription medicine used to suppress appetite, may lead to serious adverse effects such as vision disorders and increased blood pressure and heart rate. Furthermore, sibutramine should not be used with medicines such as antidepressants, that can affect serotonin levels in the brain. Heath Canada says that Detox Peptide is not authorised for sale in Canada and has not been found in the Canadian marketplace, but it may have been purchased abroad or over the internet.
