■ Health Canada is advising consumers against the use of Optimum Health Care Sleep Easy as the product contains undeclared clonazepam, a benzodiazepine which can be habit-forming when used for only a few months. The product is promoted as a sleeping aid but is not authorised for sale in Canada. Adverse effects associated with the use of products that contain clonazepam can include dizziness, drowsiness, depression, confusion, loss of memory and hallucinations. Due to the risk of serious withdrawal symptoms, Health Canada is advising consumers to consult with a healthcare professional prior to stopping the pills. Health Canada.
